WELLAND, Ont. - The Niagara College department of Athletics & Recreation is pleased to announce the addition of outside hitter Maddi Morgan to the women's volleyball program. Morgan is a member of the Durham Region Volleyball Club and is a graduate of All Saints Catholic High School.
"Niagara College just checked off all the boxes," said Morgan.
The 18 year-old continued, "after touring a number of schools
across Canada and the U.S. it just felt like the right fit. The
school and facilities are beautiful and clean and I felt like the
college was everything I had been looking for."
Head coach Joey Martins of the Knights' women's
volleyball program commented, "Maddi Morgan is a tremendous athlete
and she plays volleyball very physically. She has a great serve and
a massive attack. I am very excited to work with her and further
develop her as a player."
The five-foot-nine Whitby, Ont., native most recently helped lead
a strong DRVC 18U Girls' team to a Tier Two gold medal at the 2013
Ontario Volleyball Association Championships.
Niagara College Intercollegiate Coordinator Ray
Sarkis feels "the DRVC is a strong club program that has
developed elite players that have played at high levels across
Canada and the U.S. Maddi is an up-and-coming player that will help
our Women's program grow and develop."
Morgan will enroll in the Recreation & Leisure program
beginning in September of 2013, and she identifies a strong balance
as one of her goals while on campus. "I want to make a positive
impact while at the school. I am really looking forward to
practicing, studying, and working hard to make the best of the
entire experience."
Coach Martins continued, "Maddi is a great all-around person who
is very close with her family and will transition nicely into the
women's volleyball program we are developing at Niagara
College."
