FORMER SAINTS HEAD COACH TAKES ON NEW ROLE AT ST. CLAIR
WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the addition of Ken Ambrose as the new Varsity Recruiting Coordinator.
WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College Athletic Department is
pleased to announce the addition of Ken Ambrose as
the new Varsity Recruiting Coordinator. Ambrose will be working
closely with all 14 Saints varsity programs assisting each coaching
staff's efforts to attract the best student-athletes locally,
provincially and nationally.
St. Clair's Director of Advancement, Athletics and Foundation
Christina Gatto commented, "This is a tremendous
move for the varsity program and we feel Ken will be able to help
our teams compete at the highest level. He has the experience to
work with our coaches and the energy to meet the needs of the
incoming students. We feel having a dedicated person in this area
will make a big impact to our success."
As a result Ambrose has stepped down from his head coaching role
with the women's basketball program after two seasons. After
struggling through a rebuilding year in his first season the Saints
were able to go 10-8 (OCAA West Region - 4th Place) in 2012-13
qualifying for and hosting a playoff game. Ambrose has amassed
quite a recruiting class for the coming 2013-14 basketball season
and the Saints will look to move beyond the first round of the
playoffs.
Ambrose stated, "I am sad to leave the women's basketball program
after having built it up over the last two seasons. However, I am
excited about this opportunity to help St. Clair with all of the
varsity programs and I am looking forward to the challenge of this
new role."
Ambrose is a retired teacher with more than 40 years of basketball
coaching experience at the elementary, high school, club, regional
and provincial level with ties to both the Windsor area and the
other end of Essex County in Leamington. He was both the founder
and President of the Riverside Falcon Basketball Association and
the Leamington Cougars Basketball Association. Ambrose has
served with the Ontario Basketball Association on the Ranking and
Seeding Committee and coached at the MDP level with the St. Clair
Region team also working with that team at the 2010 Ontario Summer
Games in Sudbury.
The Athletic Department begins its search immediately and will be releasing information in the coming days regarding posting of the head coaching position for women's basketball program.
