Duffy has announced new recruits for the 2013-14
Mountaineers.
Five-foot-seven guard Jessica Grant attended
North Park Collegiate and played club ball with the KW Lightning
Junior Elite after many years with the Brantford Briers. Considered
a 'heart and soul' type player, she is an OBA and CWOSSA champion
who can play three positons and both ends of the court.
Stef Hrymak from Westdale Secondary and Blessed
Sacrament, is a 5-foot-5 shooting guard with four City high school
titles and two tournament MVP awards for her club team. Her outside
shooting is described as magnificent and her presence on the court
should create opportunities for her teammates.
Six-foot-two forward Shamira Kerlew was a former
top rookie at Seneca College after being MVP in her senior at
Cathedral High School, as well as a member of the Hamilton Wild
Cats. She is expected to provide physical presence on the court, be
a strong rebounder with a great touch around the net as well.
Grace Kay was MVP for Lester B. Pearson. The
5-foot-10 shooting guard was also an OBA junior girls gold
medalist. She should provide a presence in the post position and
add depth down low at both ends of the floor for the Mountaineers,
following her outstanding high school career.
Sive-foot-seven guard Allyson DeLorenzi comes to
the Mountaineers from North Park Collegiate and the Brantford
Briers. She played in AAA-OFSAA ball as well as the Hamilton
Spectator All-Star Classic. Quick and athletic, she can play either
guard position, shoot from long range and attack off the
dribble.
