MOHAWK ANNOUNCES MEN'S VOLLEYBALL RECRUITS
HAMILTON, Ont. - Mohawk men's volleyball coach Matthew Schnarr has announced five new recruits for the 2013-14 Mountaineers.
HAMILTON, Ont. - Mohawk men's volleyball coach Matthew
Schnarr has announced five new recruits for the 2013-14
Mountaineers.
Setter/libero Benjamin Tonin comes to Mohawk from
Westmount Secondary School and the Mountain Athletic Club. The
5-foot-10 Tonin, who played for the City and SOSSA champions last
season, was Senior Athlete of the Year and can play various
positions.
Six-foot-three rightside Steven Falk from Eden
High School and the Niagara Rapids is a two-time OFSAA and OVA gold
medalist whose physical play at the net is expected to be a great
asset to the Mountaineers in the years ahead, especially as an
offensive force.
Bryce Marcussen is a 7-foot-1 middle blocker from
Strathroy District Collegiate Institute who has also played for
Forest City 17U and LVC Fire 18U. His school's Volleyball MVP,
Bryce was a provincial all-star with the Ontario champion LVC club.
Offensive and defensive production is expected from this
player.
Six-foot-five setter Jason Mueller from Grand
River Collegiate and the University of Waterloo, also played club
volleyball with the Kitchener-Waterloo Tigers. A winner of four
WCSSAA and three CWOSSA gold medals as well as an OFSAA silver, was
a two-time first-team all-star and a league MVP. He has size and
soft hands.
Right side/middle Isaac Cook from city senior
champion Westmount Secondary School and the Mountain Athletic Club,
was a gold medalist at nationals in Edmonton and a member of the
two-time SOSSA champions. The six-foot-four Cook is considered to
have a very sound technical game.
